14th – Geo. & I shucked & ground corn & hauled hay.
It is difficult to tell if this George is his brother-in-law George DeLapp or if it is his Cousin George Bench. Jesse never mentions when Cousin George goes home. Family members would visit each other for weeks at a time and help out with house and farm chores, and Cousin George been there since December 20th. It seems that George DeLapp and Jesse worked together a lot in the beginning of the diary, but after George built a house for Rose and himself, he doesn’t work with Jesse on a daily basis so much.
