7th – Pa, John & Geo. went down to H. Kislers to drive piling. I stayed at home & ground calf feed.

Jesse never mentioned when Cousin George Bench went home, so this could either be Cousin George, or it could be his brother-in-law George DeLapp.

Hermann Henry Kesler owned a farm in the Grand River Township during the 1900 federal census. Based on this entry and second one in a couple of weeks, it sounds like James Bench owns a pile driver, and he and the men took it to help Kesler drive posts into the ground either for a fence or a building.

Jesse is probably grinding corn by hand. It would be interesting to know what he is using to do this. Linked below is an example of a hand grinder.
