The Chillicothe Constitution published the following account of Maggie Delap’s wedding on Friday, June 13, 1902:

John Delap, wife and son, Master Earl, of Ft. Madison, Iowa, Will and Elmer Delap, Marshalltown, Ia., and Miss Rebecca Warhurst, of Salisbury, are here to attend the marriage of Miss Margarette Delap to Mr. Harry Rice.

Frank Rice of Plymouth, Mo., is here to attend the marriage of his nephew, Harry Rice, to Miss Delap.

Tuesday afternoon at 5:30 o’clock Rev. Wadley performed a marriage ceremony whereby Mr. Harry Rice and Miss Margarette Delap were joined in the holy bonds of matrimony at the residence of the bride’s mother, Mrs. M. E. Delap. The ceremony was beautiful and impressive. The house decorations were elegant. Miss Grace Gibson play the wedding march. The bride was dressed in a beautiful white organdie and carried American Beauty roses. Miss Rebecca Warhurst of Salisbury, acted as bridesmaid and Mr. Will Delap of Marshalltown, Iowa, as best man. After the ceremony the guests were conducted to the spacious dining room where a four-course wedding supper was served. To say the supper was fine, does not express it. The presents were numerous, all of the best and finest material. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. W. Rice, who are parents of the groom, gave an elegant reception Wednesday evening to the following invited guests: Mrs. M. E. Delap, Frank Drake and wife, Ralph Dome and wife, JohnWilson and wife, Virgil Thomas and wife, Osborne, Mo.; Geo. Delap and wife, John Delap and wife, Misses Grace and Blanch Gibson, Dora Wilson, Mamie McCloughan, Ada Riley, Avalon; Rebecca Warhurst, Salisbury; Oletha Brown, Lou Smith and Pha Maison; Messrs. Will and Elmer Delap, Marshaltown, Ia.; John Bench, Len Dome, Frank Bench, Joe Bonderer, Carl, Ralph, and Frank Rice, Ray NcCloughan, Porter Brown, Bert Bagley, Albert Myers. All enjoyed a good time and an elegant lunch, Mr. and Mrs. Rice upholding their reputation as entertainers and for serving fine lunches.
