March 17th — moved on the “Old Place” today hauling everything in one load. Daddie Frazier is still here. Spent next few days straightening up the place.
It is difficult to tell exactly what Jesse means. Jesse and Mary might have initially lived in the big Bench house with his parents, Frank, and Charlie, and now they are moving to a different house on the property. There are several that are rented to tenant farmers, and Jesse’s brother John lives in one. If his father-in-law Joshua is “still here,” then maybe Jesse and Mary are moving into her parents’ house, and her parents and family are moving to a different house. That seems inconvenient for the Fraziers though. In a few weeks Jesse will write that “Ma Frazier moved on [the] 8th [of April],” so maybe his in-laws did move to a different house on the Bench property. One can hope they were offered a nicer house in exchange!
