26th — We walked back to town & ate dinner at Jen’s again. Frank at home, just came in. After dinner we went to Aunt Mary’s to stay all night. & Fri. 12:40 p.m. we came over to Utica on the Passenger to Sophias. Stayed all night Fri. & Sat. night. Came home Sun. night after church.
Jesse does not mention where Frank has been. He was last mentioned on December 2nd, so he must have gone away for a visit. At some point in the next couple of years, Frank moves to Dubuque, Iowa, but Jesse does not explain why.
A couple of Jessie’s and Mary’s granddaughters described riding the passenger train between Utica and Chillicothe a few decades later. They said when they walked to the depot and rode with Grandma, it was to go shopping in Chillicothe. One had to be finished running errands and back at the depot before the last train back.
