8th – Worked all day. A bright sunny day. Could see Mt. Ranier plain. Still boarding at Browns & bedding at the Mascot. Got a letter from home & one from Mary & one from Tom. Gate City is circled by a range of mountains on the North & West & on the South by the Black River. Looking West on a bright sunshiney day you can see Mt. Ranier, a mountain 14.444 ft. high. It looked beautiful today.
