27th, went over the river to put up a load of hay. Didn’t get to put up much. Only topped a few stacks out & then it began to rain. Got wet & came home. Jen, Hazel, Maude, & I went to Utica for mail. Came home & Charley & I gathered a load of corn off Wes Duncans new ground. Frank took a load of apples to town. I got a letter from Bro. Edd Wells.

It looks like Jen was babysitting their sister Rose’s baby Hazel besides taking care of her own baby Maude.  The Duncan family is one of the Bench farm’s tenants who Jesse mentions on June 29th when listing the families living on their property.  Wes Duncan, along with Anna, Elvy, and Bessie, are missing from the 1900 federal census.  If anyone sees them, please send us a note!
