3rd, Frank & I plowed west of R.R. Then we went to cottage prayer meeting at Sister Eliza Stones. Got a letter from May.

Eliza Catherine Harper Stone is married to John Calvin Stone, older brother of previously mentioned Thomas Benton Stone.  Eliza was born in Utica in 1846 and married John in 1866.  They had three sons:  Charles Harper, William Thomas, and Harry Broaddus.  (It was Charles Harper Stone who conducted the 1900 federal census in Utica.)  She spent her whole life in Utica and died in 1914.

This is the second letter from May Warner since Jesse went to church with her at Dawn, Missouri, earlier in July.  It would be rude to speculate if May was sweet on Jesse, or just being friendly and social.
