Sun. 8th went to S.S. & to Church in the morning. Elmer & Maggie went with me. Went to Young People’s Meeting. Had dinner with the Wilsons. Back to Church in the evening. Sermon was preached by a Mr. Cooper. Had a good voice. A fine Sermon.

The older population in rural Missouri still refer to youth group as “young people’s meeting.”  The Wilson family may have been Jonathan and Mary Wilson’s house at Rich Hill, but that would be a long ride out from Utica.  Jesse mentions Jonathan’s and Mary’s son Arthur later in the diary, so it is likely that family.  Another possibility is William Wilson’s family living in Utica since the youngest child James W. was about Jesse’s age.
